Accumold breaks ground on $33.25M expansion

Accumold breaks ground on a $33.25 million expansion of its Ankeny, Iowa, campus. The move boosts production capacity, manufacturing capability, and supply security for customers requiring precision micro manufacturing at scale. The approximately 53,000-square-foot fourth building should nearly double production capacity and support the creation of around 150 new jobs. Completion is expected in February 2028.

The new facility will be used primarily for production and will provide capacity for new equipment and technology, expanded quality and tooling capabilities, and additional technical and administrative resources. Accumold will be able to accommodate new programs as demand develops across advanced, high-value applications.

“This expansion gives us the space, technology and capabilities to keep growing alongside our customers,” said Roger Hargens, President and CEO of Accumold. “It is also an investment in Ankeny and in the people whose skill and commitment make our work possible.”

Also, the expansion reinforces Accumold’s commitment to US-based manufacturing and increasingly domestic supply chains. The Weitz Company of Des Moines is the general contractor, with SVPA Architects of West Des Moines providing architectural services. 150 new positions are expected to be created spanning production, quality, tooling, administration, and other areas.

“Our customers depend on precision, quality, and a reliable supply of components,” added Hargens. “As we expand our production capabilities, we are also strengthening our ability to protect our team and support our customers through disruptions.”
